But before using a wet saw, you must know about the components that a wet saw consists of. It will help you to run the saw flawlessly.

Let’s have a look at wet saw anatomy.

  • A table
  • A water pump and tray
  • A blade
  • Blade guard
  • Rip fence

These are the basic things that you will find when you purchase a new wet saw. Now, let’s see how every part works.

How To Use A Wet Saw

Table of the saw: The table of the saw is the base of a wet saw. You can set all the components over the table. And all tables provided with a wet saw have a height adjustment feature.

You can easily slide the table also. Set the tiles over the table and you can actually push them through the saw. You can extend the table quite far when you cut large tiles.

Water pump: From the name of the saw, you can easily understand that you need water to cut tiles. This pump spray water to the blade to remain cool in the time of cutting tiles. It also helps to control some of the dust.

You will find a water tray under the blade of the saw. This tray is used to hold the dirty water.

Blade of the saw: When you purchase a wet saw, you get a blade with the saw.  Actually, wet saws use a diamond built blade and it is really a sharp blade.

You can do different types of cuts with the blade such as diagonal cut, babble cut, etc. Just unlock the blade button and tilt the head of the blade. Set the blade in your suitable position and lock it.

If you need a plunge cut, unlock the blade button and hold the handle of the saw. Now up and down the blade of the saw to get the perfect cut.

Blade guard: The blade guard acts as a protection of the blade. In a small wet saw, you need to pull the guard upward in the time of cutting the tiles. However, in large wet saw, you don’t need to do that.

Rip fence: Every wet saw has a back fence that helps you to cut the tile with accurate measurement. Set the fence with the table by tightening the screws attached to the fence. Set it where you actually need it.

You can set the fence in an angle if you want to cut a diagonal cut. You can easily set it anywhere on the table. It just depends on your needs.

Now, let’s have a look at how to cut a straight cut with a wet saw. Follow the steps outlined below to get perfection.

Steps to follow:

Step #1: Mark The Cutting Area

Use a temporary marker to mark the cutting area over the tile. Set the tile over the table of the saw.

Step #2: Align The Tile And Start The Saw

Use the fence to align the tile with the blade of the saw. When all things are set properly, just turn on the power of the saw. The blade will start to spin at full speed.

Step #3: Cut The Tile

Push the tile by hand slowly towards the blade. If you need to cut both sides of the tile, just turn the tile at a 90-degree angle and cut it.

Step #4: Turn Off The saw

Turn off the power of the saw after cutting both sides of the tile.
